The Psychology B.Sc. Honours degree program was designed for students who are interested in pursuing graduate training in science areas of psychology (e.g., cognitive, neuropsychological, and biological influences on behaviour). Each year the Department of Psychology and Health Studies admits a maximum of 30 students into the Honours Program. These admissions are done on a competitive basis and students with averages below 80% (for all courses taken in Psychology) are normally not accepted into the program.

Students must have completed at least 60 credit units (i.e., 2 full years of undergraduate study) before applying for admission to the Honours B.Sc. Program in Psychology, and normally apply for entry to the Honours’ program at the end of their third year of study. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Formal admission requires: (1) application for Honours admission made on a form available from the Undergraduate Student Office, College of Arts and Science; (2) letter of intent for the Honours’ thesis identifying a potential faculty supervisor available from the Department’s main office; and (3) completion of at least one 300-level A and one 300-level B course in Psychology.

No more than 6 credit units from one subject may be used in Requirements C1, C2, and the Junior Course Requirements in C3. An exception will be made to this rule to allow a student to choose to take 9 credit units in the same subject to fulfill the English Language Writing and Indigenous Learning Requirements (in the C1 College Requirement). Students who make this choice will be required to take 3 additional credit units of Fine Arts Program Type, Humanities Program Type, Social Science Program Type, or Arts and Sci No Program Type courses, in a different subject, within the C5 Electives Requirement.
