Admission Requirements
- Language Proficiency Requirements: Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants and for applicants whose first language is not English.
- Master's degree, or equivalent, from a recognized university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study
- a cumulative weighted average of at least a 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (e.g. coursework required in Master's program)

Note: Additional application documents include three letters of reference, curriculum vitae, and a statement of academic intent.
Indigenous Applicants
One admission space is reserved for qualified, self-identified First Nations, Metis, or Inuit applicant.
Female Applicants
Three to four admission spaces will be reserved for qualified female applicants.
Degree Requirements
Students must maintain continuous registration in the 996 course.

- GPS 961.0, if research involves human subjects
- GPS 962.0, if research involves animal subjects
Students must complete a minimum of 6 credit units at the 800-level as approved by the advisory committee. Recommended courses include following:
- DENT 803.3
- DENT 805.2
- DENT 801.3
- DENT 802.3
- DENT 804.3
- DENT 806.2
All students must maintain continuous registration in the following courses:
- DENT 990.0 Seminar
- DENT 996.0 Research
In addition to the course work requirements and completing a research project, all students must also complete the following:
- Doctoral candidacy assessment
- Oral dissertation defense
