Precision agriculture, as it related to crop production, is the precise management of crops in order to increase both production and sustainability. The Certificate in Precision Agriculture is designed to allow students to gain knowledge and to develop experiential skills in precision agriculture by leveraging skills from their academic discipline. Students will learn about the technologies used in precision agriculture (satellite imagery, global positioning systems) used to measure and manage variability in crop production. In addition, students will learn how to apply these techniques to precisely manage crops overall.
Differentiate yourself without overloading. Students will take core courses from the certificate but will also be given credit for applicable courses within their area of study.
Learn to solve problems with others. Students from different disciplines will bring their knowledge and skills together to work in interdisciplinary teams in the capstone course of the certificate PLSC 402.3 Advanced Precision Agriculture.
Let’s get going! Students can enter the certificate in their second year by enrolling in the foundation course PLSC 202.3 Introductory Precision Agriculture. The prairies are home to some of the world’s largest precision agriculture companies and they have been instrumental in developing this certificate. The Precision Agriculture Certificate will differentiate students in the marketplace by directly targeting the core skills necessary for employment in various roles in precision agriculture industry.
