Double Honours Programs may be taken in combinations of two subjects. In this program, at least 36 credit units will be taken in each subject. For further details, please see the Academic Information and Policies section.

Students who are admitted to a Double Honours program (English and another subject) must choose two disciplines and must be advised in both departments. Students must complete the Major 1 requirements for their first discipline and Major 2 requirements for their second discipline. 

Of the 120 credit units required for the B.A. Double Honours degree, at least 66 credit units must be at the 200-level or higher and no more than 60 in one subject.

Students who choose English as Major 1 will fulfill their program as follows.

No more than 6 credit units from one subject may be used in Requirements A1, A2, and A3.

Recommendations

Honours students who may wish to pursue graduate studies in the discipline should pay early attention to acquiring skills in a language other than English.

Honours students should make an appointment with the English Department’s Undergraduate Chair for academic advising.

In order to gain admission to a graduate program in English, students may need to take more English courses than a Double Honours Program requires.
