Research is encouraged in both human and physical geography. While the department can accommodate a wide range of research interests, most thesis topics should fall into one of the following areas of specialization: Demography, Environmental Studies and Resource Management, Hydrological Processes and Modeling, Community Development & Social Impacts (at urban and regional scales), Geographic Information Science and Aboriginal Issues.
